The Planet WGSW-404 is a ultra-fast high-performance switch with a non-blocking switch fabric of 16Gbps respectively. The WGSW-404 is a backbone switch with 4 10/100/1000Mbps RJ-45 ports and 4 slots for media expansion. The expansion slots support optional 1000Base-T, 1000Base-SX/LX modules that provide great flexibility on both enterprise and FTTB applications.
The WGSW-404 can be stacked up to 8 units through an Ethernet interface and managed by single IP. Up to 8 WGSW-404's to obtain up to 50 Gigabit ports in a single stack. By mixing them in a single stack is also possible to achieve a combination of architectures and abilities for maximum flexibility. Most stacked switches are limited by the length of a proprietary stack cable, but with the WGSW-404 and WGSW-2402A the maximum distance between two stacked switches can be up to 10 km using Planet's Ethernet stack connectivity.
Designed as a Layer 2 switch with layer 3 software routing functions, the WGSW-404 can easily integrate into existing network configurations and can be managed through the console, telnet and the web. SNMP MIBII, Bridge MIB, RMON groups 1, 2, 3, 9 and enterprise private MIB are also supported for maximum management functionality.
The standard IEEE 802.1Q with VLAN tagging feature makes logically separating nodes easier, with up to 128 VLAN groups allowed on both units. IGMP snooping is provided to prevent flooding of IP multicast traffic. Port security and MAC address filtering are also included as a standard feature to enhance overall network access security.
Product Application
Backbone Switch
With up 8 Gigabit port capacity and Gigabit Fiber/Copper module options, the WGSW-404 is suitable for installation as a backbone to provide for high bandwidth requirements both now and in the future.
