Due to the demands for distance extension from customers, PLANET currently releases a Gigabit Ethernet Converter, GT-705A (one-port TP and one-port SFP mini GBIC).
This converter supports one channel media conversion between 1000Base-T and 1000Base-SX/LX through the SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) mini-GBIC module. This empowers the installers the flexibility in fiber-optic networking from 550 meters up to 70 kilometers as soon as different SFP module are installed to the GT-705A. To centralize the fiber-optic network installation, the GT-705A with compact design can be used as standalone unit as well as being installed to the media chassis such as the PLANET MC-1000R, 10-slot Media Converter Chassis. This media chassis can produce the power for GT-705A to maintain the fiber-optic network at one place.
As GT-705A fully complies with IEEE802.3ab 1000Base-T and IEEE802.3z 1000Base-SX/LX, using the Gigabit media conversion is quite quick and easy by simply plug and play.
