As the storage demands for enterprise, small business, SOHO, and home use are increasing tremendously, the successful management of the data is critical to success of business. PLANET provides a reliable and affordable solution, the NAS-5400. The staff with technical background or specialized training is not required, regardless of the operating systems installed in your network, the NAS-5400 has straightforward setup procedures and can be installed in any existing network environment with its simple and intuitive management interface.
The NAS-5400 has an embedded RAID controller, supporting RAID level 0, 1, 5, and 5+hot spare. The intelligent on-line rebuilt feature allows any failed disk in a RAID 1, or RAID 5 array to be replaced without powering off the NAS-5400, and reduces system downtime while ensuring data integrity.
There are three RJ-45 ports built into NAS-5400, one supports 10/100/1000Mbps and the other two support 10/100Mbps, providing redundant LAN connections and continuous network service. The 1U-height rack-mount design allows NAS-5400 to be applied to a common control room.
The NAS-5400 can be fully integrated into Microsoft networks, Unix networks, and Macintosh networks. For security, the NAS-5400 has an enhanced ACL (Access Control List) user privilege control mechanism. Because different platforms have various implementations of access rights for files, the ACL implements an appropriate mapping among platforms to provide consistent behavior of file level access control.
The four industry standard drive bays allow users to choose hard disks of varying capacity for installation. Compare with high costs of SCSI-based solutions, NAS-5400 offers a great performance but cost-saving choice.
Product Application
The NAS-5400 provides connectivity to your existing network without requiring extra client access licenses fees, or upgrading or replacing servers. It can be applied to a mixed platform network, offers fault-tolerant, high performance, high-availability storage service, and therefore is suitable for many applications in enterprise, SOHO and home environments.
