The NAS-3400 has an embedded RAID controller, supporting RAID level 0, 1, 5, and 5+hot spare. The intelligent on-line rebuild feature allows any failed disk in a RAID 1 or RAID 5 array to be replaced without powering off the NAS-3400, and reduces system downtime while ensuring data integrity.
There are two RJ-45 ports built into NAS-3400, one supporting 10/100Mbps and the other supporting 10/100/1000Mbps, providing redundant LAN connections and continuous network service.
The NAS-3400 can be fully integrated into Microsoft networks, Unix networks, Novell networks, and Macintosh networks. For security, the NAS-3400 has an enhanced ACL (Access Control List) user privilege control mechanism. Because different platforms have different implementations of access rights for files, the ACL implements an appropriate mapping among platforms to provide consistent behavior of file level access control.
The four industry standard drive bays allow the installation of the users¡¦ choice of hard disks of varying capacity. Compare to the high cost SCSI-based solutions, NAS-3400 offers a great performance but cost-saving choice.
