Planet Technology Corporation today announced its WLAN Outdoor Access Point solution (WAP-5000/WAP-5100). To improve the restrictions which physical cables place on most networks, PLANET today delivers wireless outdoor solutions that have removed the boundaries of both LAN and WLAN.
PLANET 802.11b WLAN outdoor solutions include two models: WAP-5000 and WAP-5100. WAP-5000 is a Wireless Access Point, which is suitable for widely open space applications such as WISPs, campuses, and airports. Except for 64/128-bit WEP encryption, WAP-5000 integrates 802.1X authentication, user isolation, protocol filtering, and MAC access control to secure the information of your wireless LAN.
WAP-5100 is a wireless bridge capable to link two or more remote sites together with up to 11Mbps data rate. When constructing a wireless building-to-building link with directional antennas, it is necessary to align the antennas for proper operation. The intelligent antenna alignment feature of WAP-5100 helps engineers to get the quick, convenient, and accurate alignment.
Both of the models have specially designed housing to against the rigorous weather conditions while they are installed in exposed locations. Provided with SNMP-based utility, the installation and management tasks become fast and easy. Furthermore, the PoE (Power over Ethernet) design reduces the power cables installation fee and provides more flexibility while selecting the locations of WAP-5000 and WAP-5100.
Product Application
Wireless ISP
A first mile solution is now simple with PLANET's wireless devices. No wiring is needed and the provided bandwidth can be up to 11Mbps. By installing WAP-5000 equipped with omni-directional antenna in the user's neighborhood, all users around the AP can easily connect to Internet through the access point by installing a wireless PCI card. By using a directional antenna, the distance between users and WAP-5000 can be a few kilometers.
LAN to LAN or LAN to Multi-LAN
Wiring inside your own building may be an easy job, but it is hard if network cabling needs to route through some public areas or difficult wiring environments. WAP-5100 is dedicated to provide a robust solution for connecting two or more buildings' wired Ethernets together. By using PLANET external antenna to extend distance, the installation is easy and the distance between buildings can be 10km or more.
